From Amazon to Stripe

I left Amazon on 1/7/2022 (after more than 8 years tenure), and joined Stripe on 1/10 as a Staff Engineer.

I'm still a fan of Amazon. The leadership principles, especially customer obsession, makes the company grow really fast and aggressively. Innovations are everywhere, and new features are introduced every day to make customer experience delightful. Tons of opportunities in many orgs and teams, especially Alexa and AWS. Lots of cutting-edge technologies are being used.

But I do want to explore new business domains, after working in various orgs including eCommerce and AI/ML. The outside world is much much bigger. There are numerous innovations in Fintech, big data, sharing economy, etc., and I would not want to be a frog sitting in the shallow well.

Passion-wise, I'm always interested in highly scalably distributed systems. I always want to contribute to an org/company as a Tech Lead.  The engineering challenges in every domain are similar, and the expertise obtained in one domain can be mostly applied to next in some way. So I'm not afraid of any domain switch, as long as there is a career growing path forward.
